What Are Important Business Requirements for a Business Process Management Tool?

In my previous blog I presented you some context and benefits of Business Process Management (BPM). BPM is a methodology, and methodologies can use some help from tools in order to organize information and present it properly. In this blog I will discuss some business requirements for a BPM tool.

Business Requirements for a BPM Tool

Standard business requirements for modules of a BPM tool are:

  • Has a process designer to enable trained user to analyze and model a process.
  • Has a form designer to allow the definition of forms for a newly designed process.
  • Has a report designer to allow the definition of reports for a newly designed process.
  • Has a process engine to execute the actual flow activity.
  • Has a rules engine to manage the flow of information and activities within a process.
  • Has a process analytics tool to support Business Activity Monitoring (BAM) by providing direct process feedback.
  • Has a set of API's to interface with external systems.

What are your experiences with BPM tools? We want to learn from you! Please share your experiences with the Results2Match Community.
